General Mikhail Borodin Yurikov is a veteran of multiple military actions, including the Russian attacks on Chechnya and Afghanistan. Despite his age - 60 - he is still in active duty, although his exact role in the military at this point is classified.

General Yurikov's family life is tragic, which may explain his dedication to duty. Both of his parents were killed when he was 5, a victim of a apartment complex bombing by pro-Nazi sypathizers following the war. He was an only child. Yurikov's wife Helga, a renowned scientist, died in 1986 at the young age of 35, due to radiation poisoning after a laboratory accident in Belgorod. His son, Piotr, was killed shortly afterwards by friendly fire during the extended Dagestan conflict when a green recruit on guard duty mistook Piotr's squad - who had been pinned down and separated from the larger body by sniper fire during a retreat - for enemy insurgents as they staggered back to camp 23 hours later. Most recently, his good friend Ivan Alexseiovich Volodya, the Russian ambassador to Freedom City, was killed in a terrorist attack on the embassy.
