Penelope is a Yale student (rising junior) from the North Park suburb of Chicago. She is majoring in archeology and working part time at the Field Museum over the summer. Her mother is Sophia Parakletakis and her father (now deceased) was Marco Beltran de L'Estrella Galvan.

Penelope's roommates her sophomore year were Jenny Chang (Cupertino, CA), Tricia Roland (Compton, CA), and Ramya Sen Dutta (Waltham, MA). Ramya has a steady boyfriend, Scott MacGuire, who attends Columbia University.
